1. Stainless Steel Strip 316

316 Stainless Steel, generally available in Camalloy's warehouse inventory, is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless and heat-resisting steel with superior corrosion resistance as compared to other chromium-nickel steels. Type 316 stainless contains 2-3% molybdenum (compared to 304 type which has none). The inclusion of high molybdenum content promotes high-temperature qualities far superior to Types 301, 302 and 304. It also gives Type 316 greater resistance to various forms of deterioration

2. Corrosion Resistance:

Stainless Steel 316 has excellent corrosion resistance when exposed to a range of corrosive environments and media. It is usually regarded as "marine grade" stainless steel but is not resistant to warm sea water. Warm chloride environments can cause pitting and crevice corrosion.




3. Applications:

Most containers, pipework and food contact equipment in stainless steels is manufactured from either 304 or 316 type austenitic stainless steels.
